It's all about...babysteps

My sink is still shiny and lunches for tomorrow are packed. I've been working on overdue thank you cards from my birthday (2 weeks ago) and I've only made it thru two...then I was sidetracked by the computer when I remember that I need to send some info to my grandma so she can order my birthday present (a renewal of a magazine subscription) only, well, 2 weeks later.

I had leftover pizza for dinner along with a caffeine-free Coke and Tiramisu for a late, late dessert...now all I want to due it brush my teeth. I am trying to drink my water since I'm retaining water like crazy...my fingers, toes and ankles are itchy, like I'm 9 months pregnant. Obviously this is an area I need to work in.

I have clothes in the dryer from 2 days ago and a load of laundry that I've washed for the second time - whites with my son's only pair of jeans thrown in - in the washer waiting to go. I'm sitting here telling myself I need to go take care of it...I sooo don't want to.

Here I go...

Gotta find my groove

Ok. I was FLYing well last week before the weekend threw me a curve. We went out of town for part of it which meant we came home waaay too late on Sunday to get anything done...of course, if I was following my routines it wouldn't be an issue.

So I need to just jump in where I am.

That would be Wednesday...Anti-Procrastination Day. I've managed to procrastinate all evening and it's now 9 pm and I'm not sure where to start. There is laundry in the washer (and actually waiting in the dryer to be put awy) and a few other things I could do that wouldn't take too long. I'm not dressed to the shoes. I should go get some socks and put my shoes on...and just open my Control Journal and...go.

I've got my music playing...FlyLady's new cd...I love it. Ok, I'm going to get my socks and I'm going to put on my shoes. I'm going to do my Before Bed Routine...at least for a start...and then go from there.

Here I go...

Morning Report for 9/21/06

Good morning everyone!

I am working on getting my routines down (including looking at my Control Journal :)) so I'm usually flying by the seat of my pants (hence the title for this blog) or following the reminders from FlyLady as they appear in my inbox.

I leave for work just after 7 am and get home around 6 pm, then I spend the 2 1/2 hours until my son's bedtime making dinner, helping with homework, and just being together - so my housework waits until after he is in bed. I turn on the FLY cd (which I love) and I get going.

Last night after DS bedtime, I spent 10 minutes on my kitchen getting my dishes in the dishwasher, counters wiped down, and scrubbing my sink out so I could shine it. (I hadn't done that the night before so it was a little more to do than usual) I also straightened up my front room/living room by folding all the blankets and arranging the throw pillows and stuff. I then spent 15 min in my bathroom wiping down the toilet and also scrubbing my entire shower down. I was also able to wipe down my sink and surrounding counter.

I did a quick CarpetFlick of my front room (it was too late at night to vacuum) and put a load of clothes in the washer to be started this morning. I also used a Windex wipe (I love them!) to shine my sink...yay!. I put my breakfast (and snacks for my son for the ride home after daycare) in my lunch bag so they were ready to go and made sure my purse/OIB/jacket were by the front door.

This morning I let myself sleep in (I've been sick so I'm trying not to push myself too hard) until the last minute, made my bed, took a shower, got dressed to the shoes in my Air Clogs (tennis shoes give me claustrophobia) , did my hair/moisterize/ makeup, started the washer, put the mathmat and towels up in the bathroom, put all my stuff away from off the bathroom counter, grabbed my stuff, and we were out the door.

Phew!

Evening Report for 9/18/06

This was actually sent to a fellow FlyBaby by email on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 9:56 p.m.

So it's 9:45 pm and I'm dressed to the shoes. I wasn't feeling very good when we got home (stupid cold and lack of sleep last night) so I slept for a little while. We also had pizza for dinner - cheap and easy, not necessarily good for you...but I'm still over full so I guess that's something.

The maintenance guys came to fix my heater today (it's working - I'm waaay too warm now :)) but they left the front door totally unlocked. They've done that for the past 2 times they've been here and I even told the assistant manager to make sure they locked the house (it's not as easy as it should be - you have to pull the door handle and turn really hard). I went downstairs and knocked on the apartment manager's door to tell him - I felt bad after since it was his day off and he didn't even know they were coming over.

So my point in getting my shoes on was to get some stuff around here. I'm watching 'Super Nanny' and sitting on my rear. I should be doing laundry.

Why am I not doing laundry?

Ok, I'm getting off my rear and doing laundry...here I go!

Same day, same friend...at 10:19 p.m.

Ok well so far...no laundry but my sink is full of dishes soaking and I had to change my shoes - my tennis shoes make my feet miserable.
So now I'm setting my timer, the music is on, and I'm off to fold 15 minutes worth of clothes - or hang them up, whatever...

And at 11:02 p.m.

So I did it. 15 minutes of putting away laundry. 15 minutes of loading dishwasher and doing a general cleanup of the kitchen counter and my desk. (the desk was basically putting all papers in a box to be dealt with later...it's all I could do :))

Now I'm resting for 15 and then I think I might hit the bathroom...don't quote me on that though :) I've also renewed dvds that were due back at the library today but I forgot...hopefully I did it before they charge me a fine.

I had to turn on my air conditioning...how ironic is that? :)

I guess FlyLady is right about using shampoo to clean the shower...

I just scrubbed my shower. I had bought Lysol Mildew Cleaner (since part of my lease says I will do everything I can to keep mildew away) and started using it without much thought...not realizing that it contains bleach. I was wearing one of my new shirts that I got for my birthday (I kept thinking I should change first but didn't want to disturbJr) and must have rubbed against something with the cleaner on it...so now my new shirt has a big bleach line on the sleeve. It's in the washer with cold water to try to keep it from getting ruined worse but I'm a little upset about it. Mostly because it's my own darn fault. I bought the mildew cleaner to try to save from buying a new shower curtain...but that would have been cheaper than the $7 shirt I now can't wear in public.
Can I just say GRRR??
I also bought some new jeans for myself for my birthday...they're too big. That's $25 down the toilet too. I have already bought others that fit fine (except for my belly roll but it's better than having my rear hanging out) so I guess I'll keep those after all...I was going to return them and just keep the other but I feel too frumpy and you know what FlyLady would say about that :)
On the bright side, I spent 15 minutes on my bathroom. I'm not done in there (no, I haven't been doing my Swish-n-Swipe) but at least the most germy areas are done.
